King ZIP Speaks!

Well after the big DOJO show on April 10, all the fans went home pretty happy based on the results. Here to share his thoughts on the event is everyone's favorite Monster Heel, King ZIP! Take it away!

King ZIP: Thank you Denizen-san.

It certainly was an exciting night of action, filled with the types of performances that define careers. Let's break the card down match by match.

Satoshi Iguchi vs TheDenizen - This is exactly the type of performance I was hoping TheDenizen could bring to the table. Against a seasoned veteran, and under extreme pressure, TheDenizen's ability to fight through pain was phenomenal to witness. Iguchi absolutely battered his neck in there, but TheDenizen would not be denied. He'll be moving on to bigger and better things in the future.

Daisuke Shimura vs Mad Bomber vs Taro Yamamoto vs Kazuhiro Tanabe - Excellent elimination match featuring four of the toughest men in the Heavyweight Division. Some unexpected partnerships were forged during the battle, and there were plenty of double team manouvers on display. Yamamoto looked strong making the Mad Bomber tap to the STF, but he was powerless when his rival Shmura locked in the Sasori-gatame. Shimura rode the momentum of that elimination to finish off Tanabe for a wonderful victory.

Mr. Suplex vs Genki Raiga - Raiga claimed in the buildup to this match that Mr. Suplex wasn't ready for a shot at the ZIP JAPAN Title, and in this match, the crafty veteran proved it. Genki Raiga should not be underestimated, Gorobei could be in for his toughest title defense yet as Raiga becomes #1 contender.

Taiji Kuroda/Toshio Matsumura vs Asano Kaneshiro/Takeshi Kiriyama - The new tag team from FCW made a strong debut here, looking very capable against Kaneshiro and Kiriyama in an exciting 60 minute time limit draw. I we're just seeing the beginnings of things between these teams, and this match provided a great example of what they can all do in the ring.

ZIP JAPAN Junior Championship match
Darkness HAGE vs Justin Starr - Justin Starr continues his rise as Junior Champion, and HAGE's turn to Darkness has left him empty handed. This was a great title matach that was a real see-saw battle. I look forward to determining the next contender to face Starr, and also to seeing HAGE's reaction to his loss.

ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Championship match
Wataru Nakajima/Crusher Kodo vs Kenji Sawda/Kenzo Kobayashi - What a superb team Nakajima and Kodo make! Kodo, a former multi time ZIP JAPAN Champion, and Nakajima, capturing his first gold in ZIP JAPAN in this match, have a combined age of nearly 100 years, but you're not likely to encounter two tougher men. Kodo was my long term enemy during my career, but I am very pleased to see him and Nakajima as the new Tag Team Champions.

Mixed Tag match
White Trash/Reiko ZIP vs Jiro Kaneko/Suki ZIP - I honestly don't understand what Reiko sees in White Trash. This kid is a loser: he hasn't won a match in months, and the fans don't really like him and his attitude. Regardless, she seems intent to stick by him, and it cost her the victory in this match. Congratulations to my daughter Suki on her team's win.

ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship match
Jumbo Jinzei vs Gorobei - What can one say about this encounter? Jumbo was a force of nature, hurling his bulk around the ring and crashing into the Champion repeatedly. I thought we had finally seen the end of Gorobei's title run, but he was not to be denied. Like so many times before, Gorobei reached into his inner reserve of fighting spirit and forged an incredible comeback for the victory against the man mountain Jinzei. Next up for Gorobei will be Genki Raiga, a completely different type of opponent. A date for this epic title match will be announced in the coming weeks.

Again, I extend my thanks to Wonderland and his DOJO staff for use of their wrestling and broadcasting facilities, I hope we can continue to present more exciting ZIP JAPAN shows from your venue in the future.

The next ZIP JAPAN Event however, will be a special Interpromotional showcase, featuring wrestlers from all over the world competing against ZIP JAPAN's finest! Stay tuned in the coming days, I will be announcing the card shortly!

King ZIP speaks! MASSIVE NEWS!

OK, there are some really stunning news items coming out of the ZIP JAPAN camp today, the phones have been ringing non-stop. I won't bother with any fancy introductions, here's King ZIP with a big announcement!

King ZIP: Thank you Denizen-san.

I am pleased to announce today that ZIP JAPAN has added four new grapplers to its ranks. Effective immediately, Taiji Kuroda, Toshio Matsumura, Jiro Kaneko and Tora Katsu, all formerly of FCW, are active members of the ZIP JAPAN roster. Kuroda and Matsumura will make a great addition to the Tag Team division, and Kaneko and Katsu will join the Junior Heavyweights.

Many of you may be familiar with FCW, Freestyle Championship Wrestling, a rival promotion here in Japan, which is run by Jun Seikihara. It's no secret that FCW has been struggling financially over the past several months, and I have been closely monitoring their situation. Earlier today, a breaking point was reached, and Seikihara was forced to admit to his staff that he could no longer continue to pay all his top stars. Seikihara offered to let anyone out of their contracts who wanted it, and these four men stepped up and took his offer.

I was fortunate to have secured contracts for all of the FCW Four by this afternoon; this acquisition is a coup of epic proportions. I have forwarded biographical information on each of these wrestlers to TheDenizen, and expect that he will have their profiles added to his blog soon.

In other roster related news, heavyweight Donnie Doogan is set to return from injury any day. Long time fans of ZIP JAPAN will remember the terrible and unfortunate quadriceps tear that Donnie suffered in the weight room last year. His lengthy rehab is finally over, and Donnie will be re-appearing in a ZIP JAPAN ring very soon!

I am also officially declaring that in light of events at the last House show, Jumbo Jinzei is the new #1 Contender for the ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship. Jinzei's recent pinfall victory over Gorobei in a tag match was the first time the current Champ has been pinned in over a year, and catapulted Jumbo up the standings into the top slot, just edging out Mr. Suplex for now. A date and venue for this colossal title match will be announced in the near future.

Last but not least, I need to address the ongoing issue with my daughter Reiko, and White Trash. I think Reiko has been punished enough after watching her man getting destroyed for three consecutive shows. I wanted her to experience the same hopeless anger I felt at being cheated of victory against HOSS Freeman, and seeing her running out on the last event, I feel she's finally learned that lesson. White Trash probably deserves another beating, but in deference to Reiko's feelings for him, I am allowing him to return to normal competition against members of the Junior Division.

I'd like to thank my youngest daughter Suki for stepping in and replacing Reiko as referee at the last show with very little notice. Reiko will be back, but I plan to keep Suki around as a referee for the forseeable future as well. In fact, in the interest of keeping ZIP JAPAN's officials from burning out, I am also bringing my middle daughter Tomi into the promotion as a third ref. I will be implementing a rotation schedule to ensure no one has to officiate more than 3 matches on a single card.

Wow, thanks, King ZIP! That's a lot of huge news! This is an exciting time for ZIP JAPAN, I have a feeling that really big things are on the horizon. I'll get working on those roster updates, I'll have new entries for the "FCW Four", Donnie Doogan and the new ZIP JAPAN referees up shortly, and I'll knock something together for the new look of "Darkness" HAGE as well.

King ZIP Speaks on the Inaugural Show

This past Sunday was a very eventful show at Wonderland's DOJO. Some huge matchups and incredible moments. This post contains spoilers for that show, so if you haven't seen the matches yet, click on 'Match Videos' in the Labels above, and check out the action! Here to share his thoughts on the big event and its fallout, King ZIP!

King ZIP: Thank you, Denizen-san.

First I should apologize to both Daisuke Shimura and Taro Yamamoto. These professionals travelled to the DOJO and were prepared to wrestle, but unfortunately time constraints forced their match to be cut from the card. These men will get their chance to face each other at the next ZIP JAPAN show, that is confirmed.

Congratulations to Justin Starr on his ZIP JAPAN Junior Title win in what was a very exciting and fast paced match. Tetsuo Kinoshita is contractually guaranteed a rematch for the belt, and the victor will face the new #1 contender, Great HAGE. HAGE's victory in the Battle Royal proves he still has what it takes to be a champion.

Nakajima was very good in the six man tag match, to see Mad Bomber put away by a powerbomb is a rare thing indeed. Kakihara and Tatami are both still in the hospital recovering from their brutal Deathmatch. I booked that match against my better judgement, and though it was certainly entertaining, the price paid by both wrestlers was a high one.

The ZIP JAPAN Tag Title match also ended with a serious injury, Jimmy Nails suffered a badly separated shoulder taking a Schwein from Kenzo Kobayshi. No word on when he will return, but we haven't seen the last of this feud - Mickey Grinds tells me he wants payback. Kazuhiro Tanabe put up a superb fight in the Heavyweight Title match, but Gorobei ultimately showed why he is the true Champion. His unstoppable reign continues.

The Interpromotional Tag Team match might have ended badly for ZIP JAPAN, but some positives definitely came from that encounter. Kiriyama tapped out, but I was very happy with the fight that Kaneshiro and Kiriyama put up against unknown opponents. I was also impressed by the work of TheDenizen in that match, and signed him to a ZIP JAPAN contract immediately after the show. I expect big things from TheDenizen in the Junior division. That scruffy Wonderland character, though, I'm not so sure about...

The shock of the night was Mr. Suplex's career making performance in the 2/3 falls match against Kintaro. I've long had hopes that Mr. Suplex would blossom into World Championship material, but I'd never dreamed he would step up his game so soon. The fighting spirit he displayed, and the ending of the second fall left me in awe. Genki Raiga must also be very proud. Mr. Suplex will be prominently featured on the next show, that's a fact. Kintaro on the other hand, is not severely injured, but will miss a few weeks of action due to a strained neck.

And last, how could I forget the final match of the show. What was to be my triumphant return to the ring ended in humiliation at the hands of HOSS Freeman. HOSS was a mighty opponent who was better prepared than I was, and he has my respect. The FPC is a very strong federation, and I was impressed by the wrestlers I saw.

What I was not impressed with, however, is the dishonor that was brought to the name ZIP by my daughter Reiko, the referee. To count a pinfall on your own father in such an important match, how can you live with the shame? Reiko, I know I cannot punish you directly for your actions, my discipline is too rough for you, but I CAN punish someone you care about.

I know you've been sneaking off with that snot-nosed punk White Trash in between shows, I've heard the rumors, endured the innuendos. Well, no more, Reiko. You wanted to keep your little boyfriend a secret, but I'm going to put the two of you in front of the world together. I have a special opponent in mind for White Trash...and Reiko, you'll be there in the ring to witness up close what is just the beginning...of his dismantling.

First I want to thank everyone around the world for their interest in my promotion ZIP JAPAN Pro Wrestling. I hope you will be entertained by our hard hitting grappling action. At ZIP JAPAN we are constantly striving to put on better matches with better wrestlers, and I believe our growing fanbase speaks to the quality of our shows.

As you may already know, TheDenizen is the newest member of the ZIP JAPAN Junior division, but he is also my liaison for communications with, you, the fans. I will be stopping by this blog from time to time to share my thoughts on current events in ZIP JAPAN, and provide a little insight into my booking of the cards. My posts will all be tagged 'King ZIP Speaks'.

ZIP JAPAN is currently on a brief hiatus after long travel to and from Wonderland's DOJO, but I will be back soon to post my opinions about the outcome of our Inaugural Webcast Show. Rest assured that there are serious repercussions for several people after the events of this past Sunday. Our next event is not until next month, but I'll let TheDenizen know once I've drafted the card.

TheDenizen will be responsible for posting the cards themselves before the shows, as well as the descriptions of our local events. I'll be keeping a close watch on you, Denizen-san, if you bring any dishonor to the name ZIP, I'll crush your skull like a grape.
